Where in the world are you answering these questions?
Right now, I’m sitting in my front room by the fire, watching a TV programmes while doing some blogging.
Describe your blog in one sentence.
A Yorkshire lass blogging about her love for the outdoors and life in the woods.
What sparked your love for the outdoors?
I’m lucky to have been brought up in the countryside with family that love the outdoors. My step dad, Ian, has been a strong infulence on me. He has given me most of the knwolegde I have, along with Sir David, about birds and all the other beasts that roam our planet.
What is your favourite thing to do outdoors?
I love love LOVE hillwalking. Reaching a summit to see miles of stunning views after an achy climb or scramble to the top is what I live for!
When I’m not in the hills, I love spending time outside in our wood, listening to the birds and observing the colours around me.
What is your favourite meal to eat after a day spent outside?
There’s nothing like haggis nips and tatties after a long hike; everything I love mashed up on a plate and easy to eat.
It’s my ritual after a walk in the Scottish mountains.
Tell us about a recent outdoors adventure you enjoyed.
Earlier this year I visited the Arctic tern colony of Inner Farne, one of the Farne Islands in Northumberland. Being mobbed by these magnificent birds was both hilarious and awe inspiring. There were chicks and eggs everywhere we looked. You have to be so careful not to step on the ones nesting on the edge of the board walk! It was an amazing experience.
What has been your biggest outdoors adventure to date?
Probably the Lyke Wake Walk that I did last year with Zoe from Splodz Blogz and Allysse from Beste Glatisant. It’s a 40-mile long distance walk across the North Yorkshire Moors. It took us two days to complete and it has made me want to do more long distant walking.
Tell us something about you that’s not related to the outdoors… if you can!
By day, I run my own business called SocialRocks helping local businesses to get noticed online through social media and digital marketing. My desk job is quite the contrast to my outdoor hobbies, however, it allows me to work from anywhere, meaning I have the freedom to spend more time at home and travel.
