Jenni and Zoe, the founders of Outdoor Bloggers, are pleased to announce the Outdoor Bloggers Weekend: Spring Camp 2019, taking place Friday 12 to Sunday 14 April in the Cheddar area of the Mendips AONB.
The aim of our camping weekend is very simple; to meet and get to know other like-minded bloggers while doing something we all love – spending time outside. We will camp together in a basic but lovely campsite, explore the area on foot, get to know nature a little better, learn some tricks of the trade, and do plenty of chatting and getting to know each other.
The location – Cheddar – was chosen by members in a poll, and was the clear winner – we are really looking forward to exploring this area in the spring. We have found a lovely site on the edge of Cheddar, close enough to the Gorge for us to be able to make the most of this natural wonder on foot from the campsite.
There will be organised activities as well as free time, and the whole weekend will have a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Activities will include a walk with views over Cheddar Gorge, an outdoor-related quiz (just a bit of fun…), workshops/talks, and singing around the campfire (feel free to bring your instruments!). We are also looking at an additional optional (paid) activity on the Sunday that we’ll email members about once we’ve got the fine details sorted.
We will meet from evening onwards on the Friday and there will be activities organised from early evening to around midday on Sunday. And, if you would like to continue the fun for even longer on the Sunday, you have the choice to go rock climbing at 3pm with Outdoor Bloggers co-founders, Zoe and Jenni. Rock Climbing is a paid activity (£25), so we have made this an optional activity at the end of the weekend. Simply book you place on the 3pm climbing slot with Cheddar Gorge & Caves Activity Centre.
We will, of course, let you have a full itinerary a couple of weeks before the camp so you know exactly what you are letting yourselves in for and can come prepared.
The camp is designed for Outdoor Bloggers members so we can meet and share our ideas and love for blogging and the outdoors. You are welcome to bring an adult guest with you, and the site does welcome well-behaved dogs.
STEP ONE: BOOK YOUR PLACE
The Outdoor Bloggers Spring Camp is free to attend, however you will need to pay for your own camping pitch, which you do so direct with the campsite. You will also need to bring your own camping gear and food. We can provide a suggested kit list if you would like one – just ask.
Jenni and Zoe will be planning the activities with the people who are coming in mind, so the earlier you book better. There is no fee for you to attend the Spring camp, but remember you also need to book your camping pitch direct with the site – instructions below!
STEP TWO: BOOK YOUR CAMPING PITCH
We’re off to Petruth Paddocks, just south of Cheddar, and it looks great. Facilities wise, they have what you’d expect and a little bit more (certainly compared to sites we often choose for Outdoor Bloggers events!). We should be very comfortable there and they are used to having groups like ours on their fields.
Please book your own pitch for the dates 12th and 13th April and make your payment directly to Petruth Paddocks. They will pitch us all together so long as you choose a GRASS PITCH and put OUTDOOR BLOGGERS in the organised group name field when prompted. If you are wanting an electric hook-up, you’ll be a little distance from the group, but not too far.
PITCH PRICES
Grass Pitch £11 per person, per night
Grass Pitch with EHU £12 per person, per night
Please note that upon arrival each person will be asked to lodge a £20 Behaviour Bond. This is returned to each of us when we leave, assuming we’ve not made a nuisance of ourselves. Please familiarise yourself will the Campsite Rules.
If you have any issues with the booking process please contact the campsite by email or call 07813 320870 and they’ll guide you through.
STEP THREE : BOOK YOUR PLACE ON ROCK CLIMBING
(optional)
If you would like to go rock climbing on the Sunday, please book onto the 3pm slot directly with Cheddar Gorge & Caves Activity Centre. The price is £25, it’s suitable for all abilities (even of you haven’t climbed before) and the centre is located just 2 miles from the campsite. This activity is completely optional as we aim to keep itineraries for Outdoor Bloggers Weekends cost-free to make the event as accessible as possible. We hope you join us!
If you have any questions before you book your place, please do not hesitate to email us or pop a question over on our members facebook group.
We really hope you can come along – we look forward to receiving your booking very soon!
We are currently seeking sponsors for the Outdoor Bloggers Spring Camp 2019 and would love to hear from brands and organisation interested in raising their profile and collaborating with our awesome members. If you, or anyone you know, may be interested in sponsoring Outdoor Bloggers, we would like to speak to you. Please email hello@outdoorbloggers.co.uk and we shall be in touch.
